WWC172 - Anything Goes Challenge

http://watercoolerchallenges.blogspot.com/

After a bit of a break, I'm ready to get back into the swing of things with our weekly challenge. This week's theme is Anything Goes.
I've been playing around with dots. Dot painting, that is. YouTube has thousands of videos of really talented people demonstrating the technique. It's easy to get lost watching all those dots appear, but I finally had to give it a try myself.

Dot painting typically used acrylic paint and can be done on many surfaces and mostly I've seen people paint on rocks and canvases. I wanted to use Stampin' Up products. So I mixed various ink refill colours, mixed into white acrylic paint so that it had the thickness. For my "canvas", I used cardstock.

Take a look:
I cut a circle of the black cardstock with my second largest circle framelit. Starting in the middle, I just started dotting, varying the sizes and colours of the dots. Then I cut a bigger circle from Tempting Turquoise cardstock - a retiring colour.

The circles then went onto a square of black and the whole thing then onto more Tempting Turquoise. I put a large gold faceted gem in the middle, and used rhinestones around the edge.

After all the layers were put on the card base, I thought it still needed something, so I inked a new background stamp, called Handwritten, with Tempting Turquoise, stamped off once, and stamped it randomly in each corner.

This is a lot of fun to do and I have more ideas to keep dotting.

WWC169 - Charlotte's All About Occasions Challenge

http://watercoolerchallenges.blogspot.ca/
It's time for another Occasions Challenge, hosted by Charlotte.
My Mom recently celebrated her 91st birthday so I'm sharing the card I made for her.
The retired DSP is Year of Cheer from the 2017 Holiday Catalogue. I think it's festive enough for almost any occasion.

I stamped the image from You've Got Style and coloured with Stampin' Blends. Her earrings are blinged-up with Gold Wink of Stella. For more bling, I coloured some Clear Faceted Gems with Rich Razzleberry Blends to match the Rich Razzleberry cardstock.

Show us your favourite occasions creation! Just visit Watercooler Wednesday for more inspiration and to link up your project.

WWC#168 - Helen's Feminine Anything Goes Challenge

http://watercoolerchallenges.blogspot.ca/
Wednesday always brings a new challenge. This week Helen is hosting the Feminine Anything Goes Challenge.
I know there are men who like flowers and are avid gardners, but when I think of a feminine theme, I always think flowers first. In this year's Sale-a-Bration offerings, there was a great stamp set and an embossing folder that are a perfect pair. Unfortunately, the stamp set is no longer available. But - the Basket Weave 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder will be available in the new 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue that launches June 1.
The stamp set is called Blooming Basket. I stamped it on Whisper White cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured it with Stampin' Blends: Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Bronze, and Crumb Cake.

For the embossed layer, I smeared Crumb Cake ink on the embossing folder before running it through the Big Shot with Very Vanilla Cardstock. Love the look of an aged basket.

The card base, matting for the focal image, and the butterfly are all Bermuda Bay. The butterfly got the Wink of Stella treatment for some shimmer.

This could make a great birthday card, thank you card, or Mother's Day card.

Check out the truly fabulous creations from the rest of the design team at Watercooler Wednesday.
