Time for another masculine challenge, brought to us by Marsha.
One of my favourite ways to make a colourful background, and also one of the easiest ways, is to use Brushos. If you aren't familiar with Brushos, they are highly pigmented colour crystals - and a lot of fun to use.
One of the appeals, for me, is the unpredictability of the final outcome. I like to use either watercolour paper or Shimmery White cardstock. Both types can handle a lot of water. Simply spritz your cardstock then shake a teeny, tiny bit of Brushos onto the wet surface and watch the magic!
That's how I did the focal point on this card.
I used the Rectangle Stitched Rectangles dies to cut out both the watercolour paper and the Mossy Meadow frame.
The grasses and the sentiment are both from the SAB stamp set, Home to Roost, stamped with Early Espresso.
I love the Crackle Paint background stamp, and used it with Mossy Meadow ink on Whisper White card stock. The card base is also Mossy Meadow.

We are nearing the end of another year and this is the last Blog Hop of 2014. Just as there are many Best Of lists at this time of year...
Love your background Gail. I struggle with adding too much Brusho to my pieces so they never look this pretty. I think I need that crackle paint background stamp!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tristan! I know your struggle - LOL. It is really easy to overdo the Brusho. I really try to start with just a teeny-tiny bit. You can always add more, but you can't take it away if you use too much. Also, this is one section of a bigger piece.
DeleteTerrific background you created with the Brusho, Gail! Beautiful colours.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Deb! Had fun playing with Brushos - hadn't used them for all while.
DeleteSo love your masculine card. I love that it is not the traditional golf, sport type card. The mixing of the medias look fabulous and the brusho background is unique and wonderful. The crackle stamp looks so striking too. Stunning masculine card and I love it x.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mac! I don't buy a lot of masculine-themed stamp sets, etc., so sometimes it's really a challenge. But, I believe that not all men like just the sporty or dark-coloured themes.
DeleteI couldn't agree more x
DeleteMay I ask who makes the crackle paint background stamp? Thank you x
ReplyDeleteMac, it's from Stampin' Up!. It is in the 2019 Occasions Catalogue.
DeleteThank you so very much x
